In 1997, Pembrokeshire Chamber of Commerce began the process of bringing all the Chambers in the County together in order to develop a cohesive strategy for Pembrokeshire Chambers. The Pembrokeshire Association of Chambers of Commerce and Trade (PACCT) has met on several occasions since and is hoping that, under Objective 1, some funding may be available to strengthen and resource the network of Pembrokeshire Chambers.

This is particularly relevant in the context of the newly-formed National Chamber. The intention is that Chambers throughout Wales will form themselves in county groupings, then regional groupings - to consult with the new economic forums and, finally, as a Chamber Wales - for lobbying to the National Assembly.

In order to formalise the Pembrokeshire grouping, PACCT has decided that an affiliation structure should be implemented whereby each Town Chamber will pay a nominal, annual per capita fee to the County Chamber. In return, the Pembrokeshire Chamber of Commerce will ensure that all newsletters, mailings and other pertinent information is circulated to members of all Chambers in Pembrokeshire.

This structure will greatly strengthen the Chamber movement in the County, and provide a strong voice for local businesses.
